After several expressions of interest, I've decided to put together a venture similar to the 2024 QMJHL Draft Guide specifically for the MHL.
The 2024 MHL Draft Guide is currently being loaded and will offer everything from the history of the MHL draft back to its earliest beginnings to the logistics and information on how it works today.
As it becomes available, things like draft order and who owns the picks, round by round, will be added.
The Atlantic prospect pool comprises more than 200 prospects that are listed by team, size and position and have their final regular season stats listed.
From there, in-depth individual profiles are already available for around 100 Atlantic prospects towards the 120 player MHL draft (12 teams times 10 rounds).
A couple of more prospect profiles are added every day, and the final total available should be in the 150 range.
The final step will be coverage of the draft itself.
The cost for the package will be very minimal when it becomes available.
I'm not trying to get rich on scouting and I'm not going to. The goal is to provide the best possible draft and prospect information that I can - and to provide it to our agents, coaches, scouts, parents, players and supporters at an affordable cost to all.

To give an update on the MHL Draft Guide - it's really coming along nicely.
I have about 210 prospects identified as projected picks in the 120 player draft. You could go on forever adding players, but the odds are very low that anybody beyond 200 deep will be drafted.
Of those 210, I will have profiles available for about 150 of them when all is said and done - ranked from 1 to 130 or so.
I already have that list roughly in place (1-130) with about 95 profiles finalized and in order. The rest are in various stages.
What I did with the QMJHL Draft Guide was put together profiles of about 270 prospects (254 player draft), with most being completed in mid-season.
Once the U18 and Prep School regular seasons were over - I then had to update and finalize them all. I thought only a limited number of those prospects would need to be reordered with some going up or down a round, but it was total chaos as I pretty well had to revamp the entire list and it is still ongoing
It's been a learning experience to say the least.
There's also been a few other factors at play. One was having a couple of CSR scouts subscribe, and finding out that I've kind of been doing the leg work for some of them.
I'm not really in it for the money - or the recognition - or to try to get pro offers to become a scout. The reason I'm in it (scouting) is so I can look back a year from now - or five years from now - and see how I did against the other top scouting services. It's a challenge. After 20 years of posting - I needed that to be able to stay interested and sharp. I don't know if anybody will relate to that - but for me - it's a reason to keep going.
So, learning from experience, I'm not going to release the finalized QMJHL Draft Guide until about five minutes after the CSR releases their final rankings in May. The minute I hear their list is out - my finalized work will be made available to all subscribers. I wish there was a better way to do it - but as of today - that's the plan.
Also from that learning experience, I don't want to do a mid-season MHL Draft Guide - and then need to finalize everything in a few weeks after the playoffs and the final stage of the QMJHL Cup. I only want to do it the once.
Anyway, I'm going to hold off releasing the MHL Draft Guide until another month or so, but in reality, it's pretty well ready to go now with only a few sentences to update the handful of prospects who raise their stock a bit in the playoffs and at the QMJHL Cup.
I haven't set a price yet, but likely in the $25.00 - $30.00 range. I want everybody with even the slightest interest to have access. I'm not looking to make money - I'm looking to challenge myself and look back in a couple of years and hope I did a good job in helping to market the players - and helping the teams make better choices.
Now hearing the draft will be held live on Saturday June 15th in Truro, but still not confirmed by the MHL.

Now up to more than 110 prospect profiles completed towards the MHL Draft Guide - and another 30 in the works. It's a pretty deep pool this year. There were a string of four players I worked on last night that I had to bump up a couple of rounds - and that rarely happens when you even need to put a player up by more than one round.
Keeping an eye on the Atlantics being played in Lantz - but I find that not many players raise their status a lot in a tournament. What usually happens is the top players who are already ranked near the top play the most - and show the most - and the depth guys basically stay the same. There are always exceptions - but a good game or two isn't going to see a prospect go from the 4th to the 1st round. Chances are better you'll witness an eclipse.
The MHL Draft Guide is going to be something never seen at this level before. There are like - 60 or 70 prospect profiles that won't make it into the QMJHL Draft Guide. Our local U18 programs do a really good job developing players - and it's time they started getting the credit they deserve.
There are also several very good 2007 undrafted prospects that will be profiled - as well as a 2006 (maybe more).

Finally reached 120 prospect profiles completed last night towards the 2024 MHL draft - ranked from 1 to 120.
I have about 30 more to go to be thorough - plus about 15 - 2007 born players who I think might be picked - and a couple from 2006 as well.
Last year, there were five 2006 born players and two 2005 players selected in the MHL draft in the first two rounds alone, while in the QMJHL draft - you rarely see any players drafted outside of 15 year-olds over the entire draft.
The MHL Draft Guide will be released on the day they release the final CSR rankings - as will the finalized edition of the QMJHL Draft Guide.
Both are basically ready for release right now - as is - but I will continue to expand on them until the final CSR list is released - then within minutes - bang-bang.
The current 2024 QMJHL Draft Guide has prospect files available fourteen rounds deep - with players grouped by rounds. The finalized numerical order has been revamped, but the prospect bios are there - for anybody interested.
