DRUMMONDVILLE VOLTIGEURS Sylvain Favreau  TEAM OUTLOOK:    Head Coach: Sylvain Favreau; GM: Yannik Lemay    Imports: D Nino Tomov; LW Peter Repcik                                                                                                                The Voltigeurs (29-34-4-1) finished in 6th place in their conference. They defeated the      Victoriaville Tigers in the 1st round in 5 games before losing to Sherbrooke in 4 straight.    Heading towards training camp, they look good in goal with Riley Mercer and should be  solid on defence with seven eligible returnees. The addition of Ethan Gauthier up front  gives them a really good core to work with.    In a prediction thread, many posters have the Volts amongst the top three teams in the  conference along with Rouyn-Noranda and Victoriaville, but maybe just shy of a top four  league contender. It will be interesting to see whether they add or look to sell at the trade  deadline in January.    There have been rumours circulating that Tyler Peddle could be moved in a trade, and  that will be something to keep and eye on when the trade period opens in August.  Update: Former Halifax Mooseheads' head coach Sylvain Favreau was named the new  Voltigeurs' coach on July 2. Favreau had left the Mooseheads on June 26 for personal  reasons.

Update: Goobie  was released from the roster on September 5th.  Notes:  2005 G Louis-Felix Charrois got into 1 game with the Volts last season (0-1; 5.07 GAA; .881   Sv%).  2005 G Mikael Cloutier is the son of Victoriaville GM Kevin Cloutier.  2005 G Cedric Cyr-Dauphinais got into 6 games with the Volts last season (2-1; 3.60 GAA;  .876 Sv%).

As with most teams, there will be some juggling  around by position. The Voltigeurs seem to be prominent in trade discussion on the various  message forums. They aren't as deep as most teams with high end prospects, and now  might be the ideal time to restock the cupboards.  Notes:  2005 LW Michael Derbidge scored 2 goals in 6 games with the Volts but hasn't played since   last January. He's still showing on the training camp roster but doesn't appear to be in the  plans.  2006 LW Jack Galanek is scheduled to play with Muskegon of the USHL this season.  2004 LW Michael LaStarza is NCAA commited to Boston University for the coming season.  2007 C Richard Gallant will play for the US National U17 program this coming season.  2005 C Chad Prepszl got into 1 game with the Volts last season (1-0-0-0-0).  2006 RW Renaud Poulin got into 4 games with the Volts last season (4-0-0-0-4).

He will need to work on his skating to play regularly in the Q. He  elevated his play in the playoffs and then had a really good showing at the Men's U18  Nationals (former Telus Cup). Watching his game action, he doesn't have the quickest first  few steps, but if he has an opening once he's in motion, he can pull away with his long  stride. He should project into a power forward who can play up or down the roster.

He likes to go to the net and is good at forcing turnovers. He's a solid player  who can both score and set up plays.    Watching his game vid, he might project into a middle six forward role in the Q. He's more  one of those dependable two way forwards than a top line scorer. He's a really tough call for  me. He plays with that determination to get in on the action and get a stick on the puck.  He's a better player than his numbers would suggest. I think he'll show a lot more offense  next year

He's  a good skater with a lot of offensive upside. The knock on him is that he needs to work on  the defensive side of the game and add some strength and physicality.

He loves to carry the puck and also stands out in  one- on-one situations. To excel at the next level, the blueliner will need to better recognize  different situations, to avoid overdoing things, and simplify his game." - Katerine Aubry-  Hébert, CSR Scout   Guillaume Tremblay has been steadily climbing the various scouting lists. He finds a lane to  get shots through from the point. He plays a very robust style, especially for his size. The  knock on him is that he needs to get bigger and stronger to bring what he brings to the next  level. He's very strong on puck retrieval. His playing style is a bit like Connor Shortall of the  Eagles - nothing fancy, but a good solid, dependable defenceman.
