I'd love to hear the player's / team's side of the story.
What in the world could a player possibly SAY to get 12 games?
It was only a couple of years ago (2020) when we saw a Summerside Western Capitals' player actually haul off and punch an official on a video that remains here on the board in our archives.
What punishment did he (Thususka) receive? How about 3 games for a match for spearing an opponent - and a further 7 games for actually striking an official.
People think I hate Summerside and that I have it out for the Caps - but I don't. I just hate the endless special treatment and two sets of rules.
I'm all about fairness for the rest of the league's players. That's all. That's where it begins - and ends.
What did Dylan Chisholm say - because on the vid - the official is fully in control - not bleeding - not laying on the ice - clearly it must be a verbal infraction.
Why do our league governors put up with the blatant homerism with a league disciplinarian?
Chisholm must have uttered a threat of some sort because to get 12 games, you're right, I saw the video, I just am confused at this length of suspension.
I'm not at all condoning threatening an official - but it's a kid in the heat of the moment involved in a skirmish with an opponent - not somebody threatening to blow up the World Trade Centre.
Surely 5 games and a stern warning that "if you ever do that again. . ." kind of thing.
It's costing him $50.00 per game in pay to play fees as well - so a 12 game suspension AND a $600.00 fine.
Seriously - somebody should have a little counselling session with Howatt - because he doesn't have a clue what fairness is in real time.
In the meantime - the Wildcats should immediately appeal. I believe the Caps did with Thususka - and they won that appeal.
Rule 11.5 was applied twice last season. Will Allen got 5 games for actual physical abuse of an official - and Alexis Dube of the Ramblers got 7 games for leaving the penalty box to become involved in a fracas.
Chisholm got as much as those two combined! Why is that? Because Howatt got up on the wrong side of the bed? Because he didn't like the player's tone? Or - just because? Whatever it is - its very unprofessional and overhanded.
