I feel like this league does not get the credit that it deserves. There are some talented players in this league that prefer to take the lesser of a commitment route in order to focus more on their post-secondary schooling or commit to full-time jobs and/or job training.
Standings as of Nov. 10th, 2023:
Fred Fox: East Hants Penguins 11-3-0 -> 22pts
Cole Harbour Colts 10-1-2 -> 22pts
Sackville Blazers 7-3-2 -> 16pts South Shore Lumberjacks 6-5-1 -> 13pts Brookfield Elks 5-6-1 -> 11pts Valley Maple Leafs -> 3-7-1 -> 7pts
Sid Rowe: Antigonish Bulldogs 14-1-0 -> 28pts
Strait Pirates 10-6-0 -> 20pts Pictou County Scotians 10-6-0 -> 20pts Membertou Jr. Miners 8-7-0 -> 16pts Eskasoni Jr. Eagles 6-6-0 -> 12pts *Cumberland County Blues 0-31-1 -> 1pt
*Cumberland has ceased operations, remaining games were determined to be forfeits and points were awarded to all opposing teams.

Just to join the conversation - didn't the Blues win a game or two this season? I can seem to remember talking to somebody who said that the Blues had already won more games this season than they did all of last season.
Wondering what might have happened? Did they use an ineligible player or something and have the win overturned?
I've never seen it before where a team dropped out early in the season and had all remaining games (and played games) forfeited. I can understand that when a season is winding down - but guessing it was for a reason.
Does anybody remember what the Blues record was when they made the decision to sit out the rest of the season - GP - W- L, etc.?
Great to see some NSJHL discussion - and thanks.

Yes I see on the Blues Facebook page that they had won two games at the beginning of the season, both against Eskasoni. Im not sure for certain on how the decisions were made in regards to their record and allocation of points for teams. It seems as if they reversed those wins for the Blues and awarded them to the Eagles afterwards.
I believe that shortly after the Blues announcement to cease operations there was an emergency meeting with a representative of each time in the league to discuss how to move forward. The alternative to awarding teams points would have been to add games to teams’ schedules to make up for games against the Blues I think.
IMO, the decision that was made was the one that would have caused the least amount of headaches.
