Summerside makes the trip over hoping to end the Ramblers season and move on to the league finals.... Amherst on the other hand, would love nothing more than to go back to the island for Game 7.
Amherst is in a very unique situation, their playing with house money right now. They have CERTAINLY exceeded expectations and to be going to a Game 6 against Summerside in what promises to be a SOLD OUT barn on a Friday night, they have absolutely nothing to lose and you can bet that they will give it everything that they possibly have to try to extend the series, it wont be easy for the Caps.
Summerside certainly has been given everything that they can handle, and some. The most important question, to me, is what Drew Sim will Summerside get? He has been serviceable, not exceptional, a game changer, but hes been good enough to win. He needs to have one of the ''exceptional'' games Friday night in what will be a hostile environment. They need a BIG game out of him.
Another player of concern (to a lesser degree IMO) is Trentyn Crane... he certainly hasn't adjusted his game to where it needs to be in a series like this.. he is still a threat, he still creates time and space for his linemates and the d pinching because of his speed when he is on the ice but the production isn't of what I would have expected from a 20 year old player of his caliber, its time to use that shot, that speed and to take this game over. He has the tools to do it.
There is a fan bus going over, its SOLD OUT in which there will be 52 fans on the bus and word is another 20-30 people going on their own, so the atmosphere will be ELECTRIC, as it has been all series long in the ol' Amherst Stadium.
KEYS TO THE GAME:
Summerside - Get the 1st one, plant that seed of doubt, be hard on the forecheck, keep your feet moving and stop with the lazy penalties. Leave it all out there.
Amherst - Play loose and fire everything on net. Sim has been fine but he has been beatable. Enjoy the atmosphere and feed off of it.... lastly, STAY OUT OF THE BOX!!!!
This one, selfishly, I hope ends Friday night but if we have learned anything throughout this series, its been to expect the unexpected and I would say it will be a close, tight checking game. With Amherst' season on the line, I suspect there will be some nerves on both sides to not be the one to make a mistake. It should be a GREAT one.
Good luck, Caps and Safe Travels!
Go Caps Go!
