I highly doubt if it was a player other than a Cap that he would be suspended for most of next season and the head coach as well.
Where are you getting that information from?
To my knowledge, the longest suspenion that this league has handed down before was 3 - 20 game suspensions. Those were to Kirk Forrest, Ben Chiasson and GM Jack Finlay of the Halifax Wolverines from about 17 yrs ago.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I don't mind and the old brain isn't as sharp as it used to be.
I'm sure JPA remembers that incident very well also.
The latest suspension to get that high was Michael McQuaid in Mar of 2022 for HC rule 11.4 which is the Maltreatment rule.
He also received a 20 game suspension.
So, I'm sorry but your comment doesn't make much sense to say "most of the season" when there hasn't even been a suspension above 20 games.

If you play the vid on a big screen - the helmet flies off and sails into the end boards. Flanagan ends up on his back and the top of his head slams into the end boards which he can't see coming. There is no possible way to defend himself. It's amazing he wasn't injured - and he did leave the game for those who don't realize it. I always say this - don't take my word for anything. Just go look at the vid - enlarge it - slow it down - look at the point of impact and the danger quotient - and then vote. Don't just vote the minimum because you're a Caps fan - or vote 15 plus games because you're not a Caps fan. Flanagan's bare head slammed into the end boards while he was flat on his back. It could have broken his neck. It didn't - but it was as dangerous a play as you'll see outside of an eye injury or somebody being paralyzed. As far as the rumours circulating around the league - I don't want to expand on them - and I really hope they aren't true. The kids out there on the ice are more valuable than winning any hockey game or gaining an edge for the next game at any and all costs. If you think Jack Flanigan isn't fine and wont be in the net tonight.... you're sadly mistaken - and I am in no way insulting you. There has to be some consideration that he left the game in a blowout game, out of precaution. He celebrated just fine with his team when the buzzer went and was on the bench with his team. I fully agree that there is no place in the game for that to occur and it should definitely by a 6-10 game suspension, just my opinion. I have slowed it down, enlarged it, watched it over and over and it was definitely intentional and aggressive in nature, not to mention unnecessary... however, if it is true that Mcguigan told him to have any contact what so ever with the goalie, that is also inexcusable and should have substantial consiuence.

He’s an irrelevant rat who has 1 point. Full cages are making players like him think they’re something. I do agree with you, I find it hard to believe if he had the risk of getting his face caved in, not having a cage on, having to answer the bell, it may not have played out the way it did. Irrelevant, absolutely. Which is why I have said I am happy that Flanigan is okay because that would be a massive trade off (not in favour of MIR if he was out for any period of time) and that the Wolves social media team can poke fun at the situation by putting him as the focal point of a game day post.

Ok, unrelated but IF the stories are true that Justin David wasn't as hurt as the team led on and they held a private practice at a private location, should the suspension be reduced seeing as Justin ''rose from the dead'' and played in THAT series?? Should there be a team fine or a suspension for whomever knew this wasn't as bad as being portrayed ? It's unfortunate because the MHL hockey community gathered around to show support in the weeks that led after the scary injury, seemingly for nothing when he was allegedly on the ice and did return in that series... things that make you go hmmmmmmm. Summerside ethics are always questioned - perhaps this is a discussion that is just too sensitive to talk about - but I dont mind it being a discussion. Especially after seeing him flop every game getting hit this series and grabbing his head to draw a penalty. I will say they did have a practice out of the city, but I know 💯 Justin David did not participate in it and it was all over social media that the practice was happening so people in that community could go watch.

YES - the suspension should have been reduced to the 5 games minimum when it came out that David was practicing and then played after sitting out only 1 game. That match penalty was actually assessed after the game was over. Many suspensions in the past have been reduced. I was actually thinking of boycotting the Summit because the suspension wasn't reduced - but I changed my mind on that. Troy Howatt and his questionable and heavy handed rulings just aren't as important as something effecting all franchises. When it comes to potato size - he's the smallest in the peck. I'm still hoping that they reduce that suspension - and I think anybody out there looking at it as far as what the right and proper thing to do is - that suspension needs to be addressed. They often base length of suspension on the number of games an injured player misses. Surely those making the decisions need to realize it has to work both ways. Why is it that a lot of the people the league hires come in "with a passion for the league" and wanting to bring it to the next level - and then they quickly seem to lose something as simple as common sense and right and wrong when it comes to league matters?
