If you play the vid on a big screen - the helmet flies off and sails into the end boards. Flanagan ends up on his back and the top of his head slams into the end boards which he can't see coming. There is no possible way to defend himself. It's amazing he wasn't injured - and he did leave the game for those who don't realize it. I always say this - don't take my word for anything. Just go look at the vid - enlarge it - slow it down - look at the point of impact and the danger quotient - and then vote. Don't just vote the minimum because you're a Caps fan - or vote 15 plus games because you're not a Caps fan. Flanagan's bare head slammed into the end boards while he was flat on his back. It could have broken his neck. It didn't - but it was as dangerous a play as you'll see outside of an eye injury or somebody being paralyzed. As far as the rumours circulating around the league - I don't want to expand on them - and I really hope they aren't true. The kids out there on the ice are more valuable than winning any hockey game or gaining an edge for the next game at any and all costs. If you think Jack Flanigan isn't fine and wont be in the net tonight.... you're sadly mistaken - and I am in no way insulting you. There has to be some consideration that he left the game in a blowout game, out of precaution. He celebrated just fine with his team when the buzzer went and was on the bench with his team. I fully agree that there is no place in the game for that to occur and it should definitely by a 6-10 game suspension, just my opinion. I have slowed it down, enlarged it, watched it over and over and it was definitely intentional and aggressive in nature, not to mention unnecessary... however, if it is true that Mcguigan told him to have any contact what so ever with the goalie, that is also inexcusable and should have substantial consiuence. I really wish you wouldn't quote me and put words in my mouth. I didn't say anything about Flanagan missing a game or Billy McGuigan ordering a hit.

I suppose the key here is perception - me saying if “you” think, that’s genetically speaking - not intended for it to say coming from you. Also, it was never stated you said McGuigan ordered the hit.

I highly doubt if it was a player other than a Cap that he would be suspended for most of next season and the head coach as well. Where are you getting that information from? To my knowledge, the longest suspenion that this league has handed down before was 3 - 20 game suspensions. Those were to Kirk Forrest, Ben Chiasson and GM Jack Finlay of the Halifax Wolverines from about 17 yrs ago. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, I don't mind and the old brain isn't as sharp as it used to be. I'm sure JPA remembers that incident very well also. The latest suspension to get that high was Michael McQuaid in Mar of 2022 for HC rule 11.4 which is the Maltreatment rule. He also received a 20 game suspension. So, I'm sorry but your comment doesn't make much sense to say "most of the season" when there hasn't even been a suspension above 20 games. We do have a section with the longest suspensions in the MHL record book (great reading for those who haven't seen it). Unfortunately, a lot of the videos have been blocked or removed by Youtube. Longest Suspensions in league historyFor anybody that hasn't seen them and never turned their heads when a fight broke out - check out the Ken Tasker - Trevor Senn fight - and of course - the Dennis Bonvie vs. Tommy Hickey fights - Howatt would lay an egg if he saw them. . . That's what it used to be like before full cages - and if you ran a goalie - you answered the bell. . .

Ok, unrelated but IF the stories are true that Justin David wasn't as hurt as the team led on and they held a private practice at a private location, should the suspension be reduced seeing as Justin ''rose from the dead'' and played in THAT series?? Should their be a team fine or a suspension for whomever knew this wasn't as bad as being portrayed ? It's unfortunate because the MHL hockey community gathered around to show support in the weeks that led after the scary injury, seemingly for nothing when he was allegedly on the ice and did return in that series... things that make you go hmmmmmmm. Summerside ethics are always questioned - perhaps this is a discussion that is just too sensitive to talk about - but I dont mind it being a discussion. Especially after seeing him flop every game getting hit this series and grabbing his head to draw a penalty. So after seeing this a few weeks ago i did ask some Miramichi people close to the team about the practice. they told me it wasn't Private or at private location as much as it was ice availability at a rink they could access after their team meeting the next day. They also said David was not at the practice and was home until the doctors cleared him. That's information i was given could my leg have been pulled, YES. but i'd like to think with every team at any level all the way up to the pros after any situation the team as a whole need to turn the page and reset

So this Private practice you say.. was one practice of a few that was organized and planned prior to any injury to allow the team more ice times at didn’t times then regular ice in Miramichi.. and yes he did show at the rink with his Family to thank the team.. he did not step on ice what so ever. But people talk and always like to put their own spin on stories.. so this is no different.
