Congratulations Timberwolves.
Karma is indeed a bitch.
In all my years of following the league - I don't think I've ever seen something so stacked in favour of one team winning when it comes to things like rules, suspensions and league bias - with the clear underdog overcoming all and coming out on top.
I don't want to be ignorant and kick somebody when they're down - but I don't think a single person here needs any further explanation.
The championship should - and does reflect more on the Timberwolves' David vs. Goliath win - and not on any off ice situations.
I'm not at all meaning to take away from the Timberwolves' win - their skill level as a hockey team - or their coaching and team play. They did it on the ice - period.
Just more trying to say that it's still sinking in. I woke up today and it hit me all over again that they won. It's simply a monumental win against all odds.
Only one person in the pool picked Miramichi to win. The only other person who mentioned to me in passing that they liked the Timberwolves' chances was a coach from out West who visits the board every now and then. It shows what I know - and what I don't.
Hopefully the businesses in Miramichi chip in together and put on some kind of a team dinner before they head out to Ontario to hopefully shock a few more unbelievers like myself.
I can't remember an upset this big in the MJAHL since the fourth place Amherst Ramblers went undefeated in the playoffs in 1990 to win their only league championship. Maybe it's not as far back as that for a David vs. Goliath story - but I'm drawing a blank.
Guessing there's a lot of tired people today who didn't get a lot of sleep.
