I saw the news that the Steamers are hosting their own ID Camp at the End of May. Don’t remember any other MHL teams doing that but i know out west, especially in the SJHL they are common. Can’t imagine the Steamers going to the Summit when they can run their own ID Camp and watch their own guys much easier.

Most teams invite players to training camp for free and they have to sign a tryout agreement. Would this not contradict with the 12 day window for training camps ?

Sounds like some CCHL teams do something of this nature as well - some local kids were up there this past weekend ...

I figured it was an MHL rule since i would’ve assumed some teams would have done it already. The price tag is about normal for these camps, especially if they claim that they will sign guys or invite to main camp direct from ID Camp. There are some who know much more than i do on this topic of the rules for ID Camps and that, be curious on their input.

I've been trying to gather some info on what's going on behind the scenes a bit - since there is so little out there.
From multiple sources, it sounds like the MHL women's initiative is no more. They never put anything together at any time and never made a presentation of any kind to the league. They have never presented anything to our owners or governors, have never actually held seminars or meetings with the likes of Amy Walsh, Tara Sloan or Megan Chayka as was the initial plan, and they appear to have disappeared when Troy Dumville left.
Not a single person has ever heard anything about their input that I can find.
I was never against the idea, but I always believed that in this day and age - it needs to be opportunities for all.
I am hearing that at least one MHL organization has already pulled out of the Summit and will not be taking part. I would guess more will follow when word gets around that somebody has already pulled out. Four days and three nights in the dog days of summer is just the wrong time - with QMJHL camps going in the next week - and MHL teams opening camps two weeks later.
Also hearing that the Director of Discipline is "out of control" and needs to be replaced.
As far as Connor Cameron - he is liked by some - and not liked by some. Rumours have him possibly moving on - but I would guess that he will look to complete the second year of his contract (I believe all league presidents start with two year agreements). I'm hoping they do shuffle up the league management and have more representation in all Provinces for the coming season.
If anybody can add anything here - confidentiality is guaranteed.
The league needs to move forward - not be held back by a couple of people who seem intent on following their own personal agendas.
One thing I do like is the appearance that somebody is correcting all game summaries during the playoffs - and its no longer only the players of one team benefitting. I hope they continue that in the regular season next year. It matters to me after witnessing first hand what has been going on for the past seven years or more.
