I'm more than surprised with the outcome.
The Caps seemed to be in control after the 1st. I thought they were the better team by a good margin.
The Timberwolves came alive in the 2nd - but the Caps scored late to take the lead - and again - I thought it was the Caps' game to lose. Sim was stopping everything and they seemed to be skating well - riding the big line - and still in control.
Surprised early in the 3rd to hear the Timberwolves were leading in SOG after trailing by a wide margin - and the Caps were looking tired - icing the puck repeatedly - and finally the Wolves tied it up and then took over.
Full credit to the Timberwolves team for their work ethic and the team effort. You can see it in the players - especially the ones not wearing cages - and great camera work as always by Eastlink.
Both teams are well coached.
I like the Timberwolves style of play as no matter where the puck goes - they seem to have somebody ready and waiting for the opponent. If the puck gets moved to another Caps player - somebody else is there waiting for them - and there aren't a lot of break downs. They have good structure and its well executed. Being able to do that then allows them to force turnovers and get pucks deep. It's working for them 5 on 5.
I don't know if the Caps need to make any adjustments. They played well enough to win - but that goal bar down stole the game from them.
I don't know if Rutledge and Eastman are getting tired - but if they were - this was the time to do it with a full three day break before Game 4 in Miramichi on Sunday.

Credit to the wolves coaching staff to make the changes they made to not let stupid penalties happen. Big difference from the start of the season to now.

The T-wolves could easily be up 3-0 also.

I think the officials did a great job tonight and I don't have any complaints.
The facts do show the Timberwolves with 11 of the past 13 minors called against them in the two PEI games. Take away the coincidental minors to Porter and Rutledge - and 10 of the last 12 minors have gone against the Timberwolves.
I don't think it's because the Caps are a cleaner team. I think the experience in the officials tonight really showed. They knew how to keep control while letting them play. The players respected them.
HaHa - wasn't meaning to go down Referee Road. GOOD JOB!
Caps got in alone a couple of times with some speed and skill - barging through.
Flanagan and Sim both made some big saves. Final shots were 42-42.
Hard to argue with the 3 Stars - Robert - Foston - Crane. Tim Porter had a big game as well.
